"Top Trends in Health Imaging & IT",
(c) Mary C. Tierney, Health Imaging.com,
October 13, 2008
"While the
U.S. and world economies have us distracted, concerned and
pensive these days, the business priorities of healthcare
imaging and IT leaders in 2008 are clear—patients,
efficiency and building revenue are top of mind. The Top 5
business priorities this year are patient satisfaction,
improving productivity and workflow, improving patient
care, dealing with decreases in reimbursement and creating
new revenue sources..."

"Challenges of AFEs in Ultrasound", (c) Allan Evans,
EE Times November 10, 2008
"The ultrasound imaging market is undergoing a period
of rapid equipment evolution and expansion. InMedica, a
market research company that focuses on the medical
devices industry, forecasts worldwide ultrasound equipment
revenues will grow to $5.7 billion in 2010, representing a
compound annual growth rate of 6.5 percent. Driving this
growth is ultrasound's unique position as not only the
lowest-cost, most approachable medical imaging modality
but the only truly benign, non-invasive technique. As the
ultrasound market continues to expand, it will divide into
segments, each of which will place unique demands on the
suppliers of analog front-end (AFE) semiconductors to
optimize performance and power consumption..."

"The Doctor's World: Radiology Was Young, and
So Was I", (c) Lawrence Altman, MD, New York Times,
June 19, 2007
"Some people are born with silver spoons in their
mouths. I grew up in a lead cocoon. My father, Dr.
William S. Altman, known as Sol, was a radiologist, and
his office and its X-ray machines occupied the first floor
of our house in Quincy, Mass. To protect his staff
members, his patients and our family from scatter
radiation, he lined many walls, floors and doors with lead
sheets. We learned to open and close those heavy doors
carefully to avoid jamming a finger..."
