"Design Do’s for the Imaging
Department", (c) Morris A. Stein, Health Imaging
& IT, 8/1/07
" Technology,
staff and patients have seeming divergent needs in a
modern medical imaging facility. Whether in a hospital or
an outpatient facility, advances in digital imaging have
made the challenge the movement of people as well as the
images. Blending “high tech” with “high touch” and being
able to expand and change in the future becomes the
opportunity. Understanding what has changed—and what has
not—in both architecture and technology is essential to
medical imaging departments that are safe, productive and
comfortable..."

"Square Feet: Blueprints;
Medical Offices Designed for This Century", (c) Claire
Wilson, The New York Times, 6/3/7

and what isn't absolutely necessary has been eliminated --
even paper files and X-rays, which are now fully
computerized. When possible, e-mail messages are
substituted for intraoffice phone calls to cut down on
distracting nonurgent communication and noise..."

"DRA encourages imaging center
PACS deployment", (c) Health Imaging News, 8/8/07
"A report
released by market research firm Millennium Research Group
(MRG) of Waltham, Mass., finds that the 2005 Deficit
Reduction Act (DRA), which slashed reimbursement for
diagnostic imaging centers in the United States, is having
a major impact on the PACS market. According to MRG,
although PACS technology improves operational efficiency,
it is a major investment that smaller facilities may not
be able to afford..."
